It’s a signal that the show’s center of gravity has moved from consumer gadgets to the compute platforms that power everything else. Why “physical AI” now? First, the software side has raced ahead. Foundation models can write, translate, summarize, and generate images with impressive fluency. But those capabilities, on their own, don’t move boxes in a warehouse, inspect a bridge, or assist a nurse.
